The Armed Woman of America at RRC

Rochester Rifle Club is proud to announce their sponsorship of The Armed Women of America (formerly The Well Armed Woman), New York Chapter. Rochester Rifle Club recognizes that the largest growing demographic in firearm ownership is women, and have committed to the growth of this nationally recognized non-profit organization. Each unique chapter creates opportunities for women to be introduced to issues important to women shooters, learn safe gun handling skills and train together. The women behind the growth of AWA at RRC are Chapter Leaders Veronica Gervase Capriotti, Melinda Appleby, Laura Miller and Jennifer Drake. They have committed to assuring this program will be an enriching experience for women of all ages and levels of experience. Members meet on the 2nd Monday of each month from 6pm-8pm at Rochester Rifle Club unless there has been arrangements made to meet elsewhere for unique training experiences.

With over 340 chapters in the United States, each chapter runs uniquely based on their members. It is a 2 hour structured classroom and range time. The class format introduces guest speakers, local gun laws, basic first-aid and more. The range time is consistently guided practice to build foundational shooting skills that support personal protection and the shooting disciplines. AWA chapters provide women a safe and comfortable environment for women to gather, learn, train and discuss issues important to female gun owners. It's about building trust, relationships, confidence and success over time, based on each member's needs and interest.
